Wow, Bangalore!!!!!! The most common destination for any Indian IT employee!! Now whats this hype all about?? Is Bangalore really that gr8 a place to get settled in?!! Hmmm ... lets see ...

Hi all, I was staying in Bangalore for the last 2 yrs, just b4 getting transferred to Chennai recently. I would like to share some things which I thought could be of little use for someone who is about to go to move to Bangalore or maybe, new to Bangalore.

Bangalore - The City:
Bangalore has always been one city in India many people wish to get settled in. infact foreigners who come to India too target this city mainly for its weather, IT explosion, infra structure and ofcourse girls :P. Being a metropolitan city, Bangalore surely meets its expectations for a good standard of living.

Climate:
There's always been a hype about Bangalore's climatic conditions. But due to the heavy population / pollution in recent past, and maybe due to "global warming" thats happening, I did not find it similar to how Bangalore was, some 5-10 yrs back. However, during dawn and dusk, its more towards the cooler side. Nevertheless, climate acts as an important factor for many to get shifted to this city!!

Population:
The Bangalore population is quite a diversified crowd. You have people from different parts of the country. However, a large proportion is from South India. In recent times, the population has drastically increased due to a major increase in the relocation of software engineers to this city.

Transportation:
In Bangalore, traffic is the biggest enemy you can ever think of. You need to plan your visits well in advance as you are most likely to be late. Be it within the city or city outskirts, the traffic control is bad. Due to heavy traffic, the pollution too is high. Since the population is diversified, my personal opinion is that there would not be much understanding between the drivers. So the accident rates might just be cropped up a little more here (not sure of stats though!!).

If you have vehicle, your fuel expenses might shoot up if you’re frequently traveling in such conditions. The roads too, in most places in Bangalore, are not upto the mark. Importantly, there are not too many alternatives available, so on most occassions, the traffic gets stagnated.

About other modes of transportation, travelling by buses are quite expensive compared to that of Chennai. however, you can get a pass for Rs.25 and may use it ‘n’ number of times, anywhere around the city on that particular day.

As for auto rickshaw’s, they tend to be little arogant like most auto rickshaw wallas we find down south (Kerala cud jus b an exception) ... ! If ur travelling after 9 pm, they charge one & half the meter rate.

However, the most common form of transportation are the cabs and vans that take double the number of people to what they can actually accomodate :D!! But none of us really bother, we need to go from one place to another, so these tend to be helpful indeed!!

Language:
The local language here is Kannada. But trust me, the population here is diversified and these shopkeepers are so talented that the speak in so many languages (hindi, tamil, english, mallu, kannada, telugu)!!. Maybe outside Bangalore, its predominantly kannada, but in Bangalore, all south Indian languages are equally spoken!!

Hangouts:
The best hangout for youth is MG Road/ Brigade Road. Otherwise, there are many many plazas, restaurants, multiplexes and so on. But whatever anyone says, nothing can be compared to the environment we have at Beasant Ngr beach ;)!!

Food:
Again, there are different styles of restaurants to the likes of people from Andra, Kerala, TN, etc. Amazing choices too from the 7 star “Leela Palace” hotel to the road side potti kadais.

Chennai-Bangalore:
Well, if your from any place in Tamil Nadu and get associated with Bangalore due to job, then here are some travel options available:

Life @ Bangalore:
Some expenses which you might want to consider if your planning to stay here (on a monthly basis) :

Vodafone is quite the most common provider (sorry, cant write those plans here cos they keep changing it almost everyday!)

Traveling to your hometown once would cost around Rs.300 (including auto, etc.)

Conclusion:
Well, this is all I have to tell you about Bangalore, ofcourse there are lots more when you come here!! This is totally my perception of whats hap here and out of my experience alone I'be written this. Im leaving it to you to decide if you prefer to get settled here!!
